Ambiente Wine Importing Company, Inc. is a Texas wholesale distribution company (TABC Permit W419100) based in Austin, TX. The company was founded in 1989 by Gayle Braecklein and began as an import company selling wines from Spain and Australia. As a result of market changes and a demand for customer service oriented wholesalers, Ambiente evolved into a wholesale distributor selling a variety of wines primarily in Central, South, and West Texas. Spirits were added to the portfolio in 1998 and sales eventually grew statewide.
Ambiente’s focus is to provide excellent customer service while providing our suppliers with a reliable, growth-oriented affiliation. We continually improve our portfolio by adding great products from small and mid-size suppliers. Some of the most experienced salespeople in Texas work for Ambiente and have the ability to build a brand in Texas. Our salespeople are responsible for making decisions that they determine are best for their territory rather than top-down management. Our goal is to develop excellent long-term relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees while establishing a sound financial future for the company.
In early 2007, Jordan Actkinson, a veteran employee & associate of the company, purchased Ambiente. Due to a conflict with inherited property and TABC laws, Gayle was forced to relinquish ownership but remains with Ambiente as both General Manager and advisor to Jordan.
